An open letter to the professionals of the real estate industry . . .
From time to time, I am struck with the realization of what this company has become, and what it will be in the future.
But it’s not all about money. . . It can't be. . . What an empty life that would be, if that’s what drove me to build this company.
I started with the idea that real estate agents should have all of the tools and technologies they need to succeed, and they should be able to expect world class service, support and education, without getting gouged with disproportionate commission splits.
That sounds like a canned elevator pitch, but that ideal doesn't exist in most of our industry.
One of my early mentors told me once that if you care enough to help people get what they want and need, you'll be taken care of in the process. That became such a huge part of who I am today. While I will
never pretend to be perfect, I have always tried to put others first in everything I do and I get a lot of satisfaction out of that.
Today, it really hit me how many people this company has helped. Over the last 10 years, the average agent in America PAID their Brokerage around $185,000 on a 70/30 split.
Let me say that again. . . they PAID their Brokerage $185,000!!!
Let's look at that another way. . . if we don't grow at all over the next 10 years, our current Agent Partners will KEEP over $500 Million that would have gone to their Brokerage if they were on a 70/30 split! That's HALF A BILLION DOLLARS!
What could that amount of money have done for their family? Maybe the family vacations they didn't take. Maybe that could have paid for their kid's college. Maybe a new car. Maybe the complete remodel of their home, AND a pool. Maybe a HUGE infusion into their retirement.
The point is, THEY earned that money. Why should their Brokerage take such a disproportionate amount out of their hard earned commissions.
We only ask our Agent Partners to take on around 10-15 minutes of work they probably haven't done before. But that 10-15 minutes makes it possible for our systems to operate at an exceedingly high level. That 10-15 minutes makes it possible for us to keep our average costs per closing at only $300, or less.
So, for an average of 17 hours over the next 10 years, this is my promise . . . YOU EARN IT, YOU KEEP IT!
I take what I do very seriously and I would put our technology, marketing and support up against any national brand. So, to have other Brokers say negative things about me or my company, when they've never even met me, is infuriatingly unprofessional. However, all that does is push me harder to help more people.
Today, I am humbled to say that we are almost 1,000 agents strong. Tomorrow, who knows. But I do know that I will never stop. And no matter what people who don't know me have to say, I will never, ever, ever quit. I work for YOU!
